Abstract

Awarding the Stirling Prize to Allford Hall Monaghan Morris’ Burntwood School has been applauded as much for the political statement it makes about investing in good design for schools, as for the architecture. It allowed the profession to recall New Labour’s Building Schools for the Future programme at the same time as it honoured a practice which has done a lot of work designing schools.
