Abstract

In parts of Europe, all urban design possibilities can be fulfilled by an architect, an engineer, or a town planner. Especially in Northern Europe, Australia, and North America, and increasingly in Asia, these urban design opportunities may also be undertaken by a landscape architect or a landscape urbanist. These professionals may carry out an urban project without calling themselves urban designers, and they need not have been trained as urban designers.
