Abstract
The genetic variability and phylogenetic relationships were studied on a group of six ovine Algerian breeds: Hamra, Ouled-Djellal, Sidaoun, Taadmit, D’men and Rumbi. These studies were carried out using 4 microsatellites: OarFCB128, OarCP34, INRA63 and BM1824, which were analyzed by the PCR-SSCP method followed by silver staining DNA. After the determination of the genotypes, we used statistical methods to determine the allelic frequencies and the rates of heterozygoty for each breed. In addition, the phylogenetic relationships between the six breeds were analyzed using the estimated genetic distances. The preliminary results reported in this study, showed a great genetic variability for most of these breeds. The phenograms showed that these breeds were dispersed according to their geographical region of origin.
