Abstract
More and more people are making their opinions available to strangers via the Internet. The relationships between users in the online social networks can be either positive (indicating relations such as friendship, followers, or collaborators) or negative (indicating relations such as opposition or antagonism). In this paper, we first contrast the classical theory of balance with the status balance which proposed in recent years. Then we study the moon-cake opinion dataset from Tianya which is the most popular forum in China to verify these two theories. At last, we conclude that the balance theory is fitter to this opinion network.
