Abstract

The American Diabetes Association lists five classes within the group of disorders that represent the diabetic syndrome. These include:

  1. 1.

    Type 1 diabetes.

  2. 2.

    Type 2 diabetes.

  3. 3.

    Diabetes associated with contributing clinical states, diseases, drugs, and/or chemicals.

  4. 4.

    Gestational diabetes.

  5. 5.

    Malnutrition-associated diabetes (1).
