The Multidisciplinary Team in the Management of Obesity
This chapter describes the qualifications and functions of each of the members of a multidisciplinary team, suggests ways to organize the functioning of such a team, and discusses ways to capture many of the strengths of the multidisciplinary team in settings where such an on-site team is not feasible (Table 1). Examples of specific situations are provided to demonstrate how the complexities of obesity therapy can require a broad range of expertise. A treatment team comprising representatives of different disciplines can provide such a scope of knowledge and skills.
