The Skin and Other Diffuse Sensory Systems

  • Chapter

Abstract

This chapter summarizes those sensory structures that have not been covered in Chapters 1 through 4. First, we provide a general survey of the receptors discussed, then we describe the skin as a specific organ of sense, followed by the neural pathways of tactile sensation as exemplified by the mystacial vibrissae.
