Abstract
Civil society has, with renewed vigour, announced its comeback within recent sociological and political theory. After some years in the shadows, civil society has come out of the mothballs, been dusted down and wheeled to the front of the theoretical stage. The hope is that the pressing need of modern society for democratisation can once again find its impetus in this sphere.
