Abstract
This book is a cultural ethnography. The discussion focuses on the significance of a single ceremony known as Gisaro, which is performed by the Kaluli people of Papua New Guinea. My intention is to use Gisaro as a lens through which to view some of the fundamental issues of Kaluli life and society.
