Conclusion: Global Governance, Conflict and Resistance

  • Chapter
Global Governance, Conflict and Resistance

Abstract

Governance has become a key term in the lexicon of most social scientists, and even scientists, and is certainly not the preserve of those interested in the changing nature of global politics. ‘Governance’ as a global buzzword encapsulates the emerging and expanding concern with increased levels of global control through standardisation, regulation, ordering or management. In the health sector for instance, notions of health governance have become part of the common discourse of policy-making, planning and academic research. Similarly, in the realm of environmental science and resource management, terms such as forest governance and forest management transparency regularly appear.
