Abstract

The concluding chapter stresses that a UN Emergency Peace Service is a systemic solution to a systemic problem. Te roles for which a UNEPS was designed still pose serious challenges for the UN and the people it serves. Te need is likely to increase. Te UNEPS proposal and its core principles remain sound. Te case for such a service remains compelling. While the cost of a UNEPS is substantive, this review demonstrates the cost-effectiveness of the investment. It offers a simple choice. With wider support for a UN Emergency Peace Service we might help meet our responsibilities to prevent and protect, even help to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.
