Abstract

Offshoring, outsourcing and production fragmentation are relatively new terms in the language of economics. However, they describe phenomena that are not new and are related to the dividing of production processes into separate components that can be performed in various locations and by various entities. These components may be located in different countries or different regions of national economies, and can take place within one corporation or between independent companies cooperating with each other.
