Abstract

The words that I had been waiting for. I became teary eyed as I picked up the phone to share the news with my dad. I had been accepted to a PhD program, and not just any program, but my first choice. As it turned out, I had been asked to interview at every school that I had sent an application to, except one. For the past two years, however, there had been no happy endings when it came to PhD programs, making this acceptance all the more sweet.
