Abstract
In this book I have attempted to provide analyses of the concepts and methods used by the medical profession. Medicine is ultimately a goaldirected discipline: to improve the health of the general public. This is true whether one is an epidemiologist discovering causes and effective interventions, a pathologist examining tissues for diagnostic purposes, or a clinician attempting to improve the wellbeing of the patients.
