Abstract
The idea of writing a book devoted to a cultural perspective in semiotics may seem generic, overly ambitious, and perhaps even imperialistic. Generic because you could well ask, what does “cultural” mean if not everything we encompass as human beings: ambitious and imperialistic because there are other disciplines that deal with the cultural aspects of life using a programmatic approach, such as sociology, anthropology, ethnography, and so forth.
