Abstract
This chapter focuses on the deliberate misrepresentation of scientific facts by Big Pharma and the devastating consequences that affect an unsuspecting public. This kind of fraudulent activity forces scientists to make compromises to the ideals of science of a different and more pernicious kind than those made for national security or the marketplace. The central role the health-care industry plays in contemporary culture and our well-being makes this area of research and development ofparticular urgency for critical evaluation.
