Abstract

The study of the authors and artists included in this book and of their body of work gives ample proof of their relevance to the study of creativity and to Spanish culture. They were all interested in finding an integration of their physical being and their mental processes, and for that purpose they paid attention to the role of awareness, sensations and perceptions, memory, intuition and insight in their creative process. Their interest in the cognitive value of creativity anchored their artistic experience in the reality of the body and in turn in the surrounding world. Thus, a study of the creative process offers a view of their history, social context, and artistic schools from a revealing angle that helps us see the singularity of each case better than a more socially directed approach would.
