Abstract

This chapter explores the wider social structures of power and domination and their effects upon working identities and cultures in prisons. In particular, it will seek to identify those who experience ‘hidden injuries’, describe the nature of those injuries and their source. This information will be used to draw wider observations about prison management, occupational culture and their effects.
