Abstract

Fast forward five years. Dara has retired and is now Chair of an International Development charity, and Maya is at the helm of the company as CEO. She has gained an enviable reputation within the industry for her strong individuality and tenacity, attracting the best people to work for her. She is adept at encouraging her people to develop their own unique leadership style. She has made significant waves in the company and is largely responsible for the surge in retention of women. Maya has reached the pinnacle of success. Things couldn’t be better for her. She takes a moment to reflect on the last decade or so and recalls the great angst and confusion she had once experienced and how one relationship had set her life on track for the success she now enjoys. She looks up and offers silent thanks for that moment her champion walked into her life. Her thoughts are interrupted by the telephone ringing and Maya smiles as she receives yet another call from her champion …
