Abstract

Cao Ligong, after failing in his attempt to rape Mrs. Cao Wang, strangled her. Before receiving the punishment of beheading for the murder, the characterizationc “vicious criminal” was tattooed on his face. The court held up Mrs. Cao Wang as an exemplar of chastity since she had resisted the rape.1
