Abstract

In applying ironies to the situation of Jewish citizens in Israel, one cannot avoid confronting the possibility that they are in a position of potential annihilation. In this situation, two resolutions are possible, each branching out to other uncertainties. One resolution calls for the creation of a Palestinian state in the Middle East that will transform the impoverished and weak Palestinian community into a powerful entity, but which might provoke harsh judgment and reactions by other Middle Eastern nations. The other option calls for Israel to adopt an acceptance seeking policy, but that will be asking Israel to overlook its unique history and importance within the area, assume the blame for conflict in the region, and urge it to adopt a less powerful and less threatening posture with respect to its neighboring countries. However, by doing so, Israel’s existence might be endangered.
