Abstract

The importance of the role of corporate culture in management systems can be evaluated at two levels, macro and micro. At the macro level, this book analyzes production systems from the viewpoint of corporate culture within the industry. The issue of corporate culture and its relationship with production efficiency is analyzed in 40 major companies in Japan, the core of Japan’s industrial sector. Henceforth in this book these 40 companies are called ‘the 40 Samurais’ to maintain confidentiality. At the micro level, the role of corporate culture is analyzed within two major companies; in this book these companies are called the ‘Shogun One’ and the ‘Shogun Two’.
