Abstract
In qualitative data analysis emergent codes signify the presence of sectoral, industry specific or community-based aspects that have impacted the particular subject or research area. The emergent codes that were clarified out of repeated readings and comparisons were listed in the previous chapter (see p. 80). This chapter presents the evidence grouped under the various emergent themes, which have, as a summary reading will reveal, influenced firm responses and the impacts of market factors. Due to the need to maintain anonymity of firms, the letters ‘H’, ‘M’ and ‘S’ have been used to denote specific firms. Specific interviews are identified with the help of codes. The code “INTCS M-1” for instance indicates “case study (CS) interview (INT) — 1 at firm M” and so on. For each case firm, respondent opinions and statements have been listed out separate from and followed by researcher’s interpretations (memos) of the same, so that readers can make their own conclusions of the same, as is suggested by Yin (2003b). The code given indicates from which interview the excerpts have been drawn.
