Abstract
We are interconnected in ways that go beyond matters such as economies or the weather, and this interconnectedness also makes us vulnerable, as even the effects of small events can be rapidly augmented. This is the famous butterfly effect — a butterfly flapping its wings in Beijing might cause a storm on the other side of the world three days later. Or it might not — vulnerability and uncertainty go hand in hand.
