Comparative Study of Indian and German Food Supply Chain: A Case Study of Tomato Supply Chain

Abstract

This research chapter studies the Indian food supply chain, vertical coordination, and institutional arrangement and compares the Indian and German food chains through a case study of tomato supply chain practices. Porter’s diamond model and the vertical coordination systems by Zinn and Parasuraman (1997) are the formal basis for discussion. The research explores a new framework for food SCA using the Indian and German tomato supply chains as an illustrative case. Our research can serve as a special reference point for global food researchers and other stakeholders — for example corporate and government entities — that are interested in food research.
