Abstract
When Thales undertook one of the earliest recorded option trades, Aristotle tells us his primary motivation was not to make a large sum of money. Instead, he merely wished to prove that he could use his intellect to do so, after he was mocked about being a poor philosopher (see Chapter 1).
Waltzing to leap, our hands reach high above,
Seeking to grasp that which to be proud of,
Yet what is that we seek, we think we want,
A path so difficult it starts to daunt.
