Abstract

The Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry in concert with other ministries including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Reserve Bank of India prescribe the institutional framework for India’s trade policies. In practical terms, the Department of Commerce within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is charged with the federal mandate to create and implement India’s international trade and commercial policy on the advice of the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in accordance with India’s foreign trade policy.
