Abstract
In April 1967 fighting broke out when Israeli tractors entered the demilitarized zone created between Israel and Syria after the War of Independence. The Syrians opened fire, the Israelis responded, and a ground war was under way. Rabin got Levi Eshkol’s approval to send in the air force, and, as noted, in the dogfights that followed six Syrian MiGs were shot down.
