From the beginning of January 2015 to the dissolution of Parliament on 30 March, the parties’ campaigns moved up a gear. They used the period to try to set the agenda, to announce or re-announce policies, launch posters, hold rallies and press conferences. It was a period in which they could test policies and prepare the grid for the short campaign covering each day, each week and each month. However, unlike in most previous elections, this period was also dominated by a constant discussion about post-election outcomes, as the parties came to grips with the reality of the new political landscape.
