Abstract
As ever greater gods make ever better universes, optimized universes appear. Each optimized universe is a self-organizing process. Self-organization in optimized universes is more intense than in lower-level universes like ours. It is more common, more durable, more diverse in its forms, and it produces greater heights of complexity. To describe optimized universes, it is necessary to extrapolate. It might be objected that such extrapolation is too speculative — it is too much like science fiction. Here the correct reply is that philosophy ought to take science fiction more seriously.
