Abstract

In today’s working world there is no clear definition of what a job really is anymore. In the past every job came with a description, it outlined what the owner of that job was supposed to do — the roles and responsibilities that came with that particular territory. It also gave the holder of that job an identity — it was often a definer of who they were, where they fitted into society. Today the job scene is a blur. Changing demands, changing expectations and the mismatch of people skills to job needs are all part of this. Where once a person could define themselves by the job they did or the career they pursued, this is now more and more unlikely to be the case. All those predictions that we would have ten or more different jobs in our career are beginning to come true.
