Abstract

With these general considerations in the background, we can start enquiring into objectively correct language use in a more direct manner. We have to consider strategies for developing the starting point which I have summarised in the following way: saying something is not merely emitting a noise and it can be explained on objective grounds. Recall that I have supplied it with an objectivity constraint: a language user’s beliefs about what counts as objectively correct or incorrect language use are not optional, but demanded.
