Farmers, Agricultural Policies, and the Election

  • Chapter
Japan Decides 2012

Abstract

The 2012 election restored the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to its traditional position as the party most favored by farm voters, reversing the gains made by the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) in 2009. It also re-affirmed the role of farmers’ political groups as electoral support organizations for the LDP.
