Abstract
Psychologists have made significant contributions to how intersex or diverse sex development (dsd1) is understood, at key historical junctures (e.g. Kessler, 1998; Money et al., 1955), while medical research has played a greater role in defining this topic area. This chapter addresses the questions: what has psychological research offered so far, and what are the key tensions and dilemmas facing psychologists working in this field?
