Abstract
The hallmark of gangs is violence. Gangs are in some ways best defined as groups of young men who regularly engage in acts of violence that range from the more trivial to the lethal. While much dispute exists over gang definitions, there is no arguing the fact that male violence and violence amongst males is ubiquitous — it is everywhere and anywhere where groups of boys and young men gather and hang out.
