Abstract
As outlined in the previous chapter, each of us has a personality profile that can be accurately mapped, and which sometimes reveals extreme, and oft en problematic, tendencies. Psychologists talk of Bright Side and Dark Side traits, both of which are powerful predictors of behavior. Psychologists are interested in our personality traits; psychiatrists in personality disorders. In this chapter we talk about the meeting ground of psychology and psychiatry – the dark side of our personality, the mud at the bottom of the pool (see Figure 6.1).
