Abstract
This book has attempted to make sense of state formation, the institutionalization of the ulama, and making of the 1979 Revolution and its aftermath in Iran from the last days of the eighteenth century to the present. This chapter summarizes these findings and reflects on their larger theoretical and comparative implications.
