Abstract
Each of the emotional structures explored here — anxiety, ecstasy and fear — is ‘vulnerable’, in the sense that they indicated a changing relationship with social structures where the participant’s position within a moral landscape was in the process of being redefined. Three key values which underpin global mobility have been examined in relation to these emotional structures in order to understand the way that local experience interacts with wider global processes. These values are individualism, freedom and difference.
