Conclusion

Abstract

This book aimed to compare the role of EU and UN international bureaucracies in EU and UN policy approaches to specific conflict zones and to examine whether bureaucratic entrepreneurship or autonomy existed in the case studies examined. In this concluding chapter, it will be shown that a deeper analysis of the role of the UN Secretariat, the European Commission and EU committees reveals some findings about bureaucratic autonomy and changes in the EU and UN’s institutional processes. Moreover, the theoretical approaches examined in Chapter 1 help make sense of the case study findings. In this chapter, a summary and analysis of the first part of the book are provided, followed by a synthesis and analysis of the case study findings.
