Abstract
The EcoCity was created by Gaia Planning and the Scottish non-governmental organization (NGO) Children’s Parliament. The process was conceived during a conference that brought together educationalists and architects to look at children’s potential involvement in developing the built environment. The EcoCity process was created as a tool for engaging with children both in redesigning an existing community and in creating a ‘fantasy’ landscape. The EcoCity process integrates learning and engagement around three key themes of children’s human rights, ecological design and urban design.
