Abstract
This book has thus far examined the contribution of security cooperation to changes in EU-Africa relations by addressing new security cooperation between the AU and the EU and its implications for transforming EU-Africa relations, and the broader integration of security practices on the continent. A core argument of the book is that current security cooperation in EU-Africa relations is an outcome of the institutionalisation of prior processes. Consequently, the book develops an appropriate analytical frame, institutionalised interregionalism, through which it has examined contemporary EU-Africa relations. The preceding chapters have further highlighted the fact that the inter-regionalisation of security creates an opportunity for a new sort of relationship between the two partners. This original contribution is a systematic analysis of the evolution of EU-Africa relations, highlighting newer processes of international security cooperation.
