Abstract
The purpose of this book is to do the groundwork to encourage managers, future managers, and moral philosophers who engage in dialectical conversation with them to achieve a transformed understanding of the character the manager as wise steward. The metanoia I have in mind is primarily personal. Characters and the character traits of humans are embodied primarily in individual human persons. Virtues are confirmed and consolidated through personal deliberate choices. In a secondary way, character traits are embodied in cultures and institutions. At this broader social and institutional level, the transformation in the character of the manager may take generations. To carry it through will require the work of many, and it likely will involve deliberate choices to make numerous institutional changes.
