Abstract
Myanmar shares long borders with five neighboring countries, namely China (a border of 2,185 km), Thailand (1,800 km), India (1,463 km), Laos (235 km) and Bangladesh (193 km), and shares the waters with Malaysia and Singapore. Given that these countries all differ in terms of their natural resource endowments and industrial development stages and it is therefore entirely understandable for Myanmar to establish stronger economic ties with its neighbors.
