Abstract
Thailand is surrounded by countries that have gone through significant political transformations over the past few decades. In the 1960s these neighboring countries, namely Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, experienced civil wars or military coup d’états that subsequently brought massive changes to their political systems, resulting in the mass displacement of persons fleeing to Thailand and other countries.
