Abstract

The impact of the financial crisis on various banking and financial systems has been severe, even dramatic, and has required interventions of different kinds: bailout operations by governments; regulatory and supervisory rethinking by policy makers and supervisory authorities (Gualandri 2008); and the definition of new strategies and refocusing of their businesses on the part of financial intermediaries.
