Abstract
In 2006, Tim Brown was invited to the World Economic Forum in Davos. The Forum has an ambitious agenda, which is a commitment ‘to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas’ (www.weforum.org). So why is it interesting that Tim Brown was an invitee to this assembly of the World’s leadership cadre? The answer lies in his background and the work he currently does at the rapidly growing consultancy, IDEO. Educated at Newcastle Polytechnic (as it was then known) and the Royal College of Art in the UK, he is an industrial designer. He has won awards for work exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum in London. He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of IDEO which is a global design consultancy.
