Abstract

Integration in Eurasia is associated not only with the emergence of mutual advantages but also with mutual problems. Some of these are generated by the factors that help to expand continental linkages (for instance, economic growth in the leading countries of Eurasia). Some are caused by the process of integration itself. The presence of these cross-border problems is usually seen as a reason for increasing cross-border cooperation. Whether this cooperation is feasible or not is debatable, as discussed in the next chapter. However, we briefly present here two significant cross-border problems: ecological issues and cross-border crime and trafficking. We start with the first aspect.
