Abstract

This bibliography is divided into two sections: sources and references. While all references are cited and appear in the text, this is not the case with the individual titles in the ‘sources’ section. The sources include all titles used for the data collection which is included in the printed appendix tables and on the Dataset. To some extent, in the sources section statistical titles are included that were consulted when writing the book, but were not directly used for the data collection. Examples are statistical publications on female fertility, or the titles of all the Gubernia volumes from the Russian census of 1897, among others. Nevertheless, as these statistical publications may be relevant for in-depth and further research carried out by the interested reader, I included them as well. In this respect, the first part of the bibliography on sources comes close to a proper bibliography of statistical sources for the countries included in this volume in the strict sense of the word.
