Abstract
Big, global, multinational companies often expect their staff to do a stint abroad. Indeed, for many a young person it could be conceived as a serious benefit of the job. Nine months in Nigeria, a short posting in the Philippines, a sojourn in Sydney. Many locations sound romantic: old hands are quick to rank-order them.
