Abstract

This is a book about living in a low-carbon society. There are already hundreds of millions of people leading such a lifestyle, but this book is not aimed at them. These people are, of course, the world’s poor, living on a few dollars a day and unable to afford fossil fuels, and they subsist mainly on biomass. Their fervent desire is to join our current carbon-intensive society and enjoy its wealth of consumption.
